Ombaki started his career in the office of the president as a District Officer, where he worked from 1976 to 1979. He later became a District Commissioner, an office he left in 2008. He served as a Senior Deputy Secretary in the public service commission until 2016. In 2017 he entered the National Assembly as a Member of Parliament from Nyaribari Masaba Constituency. Ombaki was a member of the Committee on Regional Integration and the Members Services and Facilities Committee while in Parliament.
Ngeno was born on 12 February 1979 at Ainamoi. He was educated at Telanet Primary School, Kenegut Secondary School and St. Paul's University, Limuru. He was ordained in 2003 and began his career in Nairregie- Enkare Parish. After that he served in Sotik Parish and Belgut Parish. Ng'eno became the Diocesan Administrative Secretary of Kericho in 2015.

Prof. Fr. Mbugua was appointed Vice-Chancellor of the Catholic University of Eastern Africa at the conclusion of 19th Association of Member Episcopal Conferences in Eastern Africa (AMECEA) plenary assembly which took place between July 13 and 23, 2018 in Addis Ababa.
Until his appointment, Fr. Mbugua was the vice-chancellor of Tangaza University College, which is a constituent college of CUEA. He holds a doctorate in educational psychology from Egerton University and he brings to CUEA 20 years of experience and knowledge in management and leadership.
